Adult Leader Training
Youth Protection Training
Troop 167 requires Youth Protection Training (YPT) training for all registered leaders and volunteers, as per BSA policy:
- Youth Protection training is required for all BSA registered volunteers
- Youth Protection training must be taken every two years. If a volunteer’s Youth Protection training record is not current at the time of recharter, the volunteer will not be reregistered
BSA Training
The BSA has a very rich training program. Many courses are available online (including all required training) http://myscouting.org. Anybody can create a username and password, enter his/her profile, and start taking the training. Your account and training records will be maintained under this username. For this training to be credited officially to you and to Troop 167, you must be a registered leader with a membership ID. Many adult volunteers in the troop have benefited from this training even without official registration.
Throughout the year, in-person training events are organized by NCAC around the Washington area. They include Pow Wow, the University of Scouting and other, smaller events. Check with the Scoutmaster for a schedule. The NCAC's training resources can be found here.
