Bowman 2024
From Sunday, June 30th to Saturday, July 6th, our troop journeyed to Camp Bowman at Goshen Scout Reserve for an exciting week of scouting activities. During their time at camp, scouts had the opportunity to earn a diverse range of merit badges, including motorboating, archery, communications, and many others. Throughout the week, the scouts participated in a number of camp-wide events as well. They took on the challenge of the mile swim, engaged in the SPL (Senior Patrol Leader) hunt, and embarked on an overnighter for the Wilderness Survival merit badge. For this event, scouts hiked into a hollow to spend the night, testing their survival skills in the great outdoors.Several memorable moments stood out during the week. On Wednesday, our troop achieved a notable victory by winning the camp oar, a coveted symbol of troop spirit and excellence. Thursday evening was enriched by a lively troop campfire, where scouts gathered around to share spooky stories and showcase a variety of entertaining skits. In addition to their merit badge achievements and camp events, the scouts engaged in meaningful service projects. They worked together to rebuild a broken bridge railing, and raked their campsite, contributing to the upkeep and improvement of the camp facilities. As the week drew to a close, our troop upheld a troop tradition. On the last night of camp, the scouts ordered pizza for dinner, a delicious treat that provided a fitting end to an incredible week of scouting adventures.
