Scouting For Food
On November 2nd, scouts gathered at the church to help with the annual food drive “Scouting for Food” for AFAC. Scouts split into groups to cover different parts of the Troop's assigned area of Arlington. We then put sticky notes on people’s doors, letting people know about the upcoming food drive collection on the following weekend. We also distributed fliers for our troop Christmas tree sales.
On the following Saturday, November 9, we met again at the church, excited to collect the non-perishable food donations for AFAC. We divided the area again and set out to gather the food from the community. After collecting the food for a few hours, we returned to the church. There, we sorted the donated food, packed it into milk crates, and loaded it onto a truck for delivery. In addition to volunteering collecting food in our area, scouts also volunteered to help organize the food at the collection location.
This event was a huge success thanks to the hard work and dedication of all scouts that helped, and the incredible generosity of our community, and in the end, we gathered an impressive 72 crates of canned and heavy food items along with five large boxes of dried foods which we donated to AFAC.
